High school Health Elective
Grades 9-12

12 week summer course.
Will meet 1 Semester HS Health credit requirement or with a few extensions of content can count for 1 full year HS science.

Meet in Spring (Lexington Woods) Thursday’s 2-4pm; June 2 – August 18

Cost :: $550 ($300 to register and $250 by May 15)

Early Reservation Discount – $25 off if paid in full by April 1.

Note to Parents :: many of the topics listed can be individual/family centered and wide spread in terms of beliefs about health. It is my intention to present general information around the topics listed and engage your student in critical thinking and healthy discussion so that they can learn to make empowered choices about their own health that will last them a lifetime. I will not be giving my opinion on any controversial health topics.

Course will consist of weekly reading and research homework to come prepared for an interactive discussion on that week’s topic and 1 final project to be presented to their peers.

Student should allow 1-2 hours a week outside of class for regular class preparation and additional time for project. No heavy reading or extensive vocabulary memorization.

Students will also be asked with guidance to create exercise, nutrition and overall health plans according their own needs and goals. A big part of this course will be learning the skill of integrating new healthy habits into their time.
